The House has narrowly approved a bipartisan bill to send more taxpayer money overseas, providing new aid to Ukraine and imposing sanctions on Russia, with a vote of 226 to 195. Despite the clear reservations among conservatives, 18 Republicans joined nearly all Democrats to pass the Ukraine Support Act, introduced by Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, a staunch advocate for globalist intervention.

This legislation would authorize a staggering $8 billion in loans for Ukraine and NATO allies through the Foreign Military Financing program, plus over $1 billion in additional funding for Ukraine, Baltic security, and Radio Free Europe. The bill now heads to the Senate, where the Republican majority may finally stand up to this reckless spending spree and defend American interests.

Earlier this week, four Republicans also sided with Democrats to pass a resolution undermining President Trump’s decisive military actions in Iran, signaling a troubling trend of Republicans caving to Democrat pressure on foreign policy. The Trump administration has been realistic about the difficulties in negotiating between Ukraine and Russia, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledging stalled talks. President Trump has rightly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a challenging partner, especially compared to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has at least shown consistency in negotiations.

Following the vote, Democrats celebrated yet another move to entangle the U.S. in foreign conflicts, while Rep. Carlos Gimenez, one of the Republican defectors, echoed Democrat talking points by condemning Putin’s actions. This bill represents a clear departure from the America First principles that prioritize our nation’s security and prosperity.
