New Siri App and Features Set to Launch with iOS 27
Upcoming iOS 27 will introduce a revamped Siri app featuring text and voice interaction, personalized context awareness, and a new 'Search or Ask' interface. The changes are aimed at enhancing user experience through more conversational capabilities and expanded functionality.
Upcoming updates to Apple's iOS 27 will introduce a new Siri app designed for both text and voice interaction, allowing users on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to engage in more conversational exchanges. The app will feature a messaging history that can expire, functioning similarly to existing chatbots.
Screenshots reveal a dark interface for the Siri app, complete with an 'Ask Siri' text field, microphone for voice commands, and an option for sending images and files. Users will be able to access personalized responses based on information from their device, such as inquiries about flight statuses or calendar availability. At the recent WWDC 2024, Apple demonstrated the enhanced capabilities of Siri in understanding personal context, including information drawn from Mail and Messages.
Another significant addition will be the 'Search or Ask' interface integrated into the Dynamic Island, enabling users to launch it with a simple swipe. This will replace the current 'Siri Suggestions' feature and showcase frequently used apps, web searches, and shortcuts. Rich text cards will display the results, allowing for seamless web searching powered by Apple's AI.
Expectations indicate that the new Siri features will primarily be compatible with iPhone 15 Pro and later models, as they are powered by new AI technology resulting from a collaboration between Apple and Google’s Gemini project. Additional features in iOS 27 will encompass a Siri mode for the Camera app and new tools in the Photos app.
Apple plans to officially unveil iOS 27 along with other software updates during its WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8, with a public release following beta testing in September.
