Reviews Critique Trump Mobile's Design and Functionality
The Trump Mobile phone, priced at $500, has been criticized for its design and features after being delivered to tech reviewers nearly a year after its announcement.
The Trump Mobile phone, which retails for $500, has come under scrutiny as tech reviewers assess its features and design after its long-anticipated release. Initial reports indicate that the device, which was expected to boast an American-made quality, does not resemble its advertised image and has a smaller screen than promised.
Patrick Holland, managing editor at CNET, noted that the phone’s actual appearance is quite different from the visuals presented last year. He described the color as reminiscent of gold coins from the animated show DuckTales, but at times looking like mustard or even resembling a urine sample. Furthermore, Holland remarked that the device packaging claimed it was “designed with American values in mind,” but it is not manufactured in the United States as initially claimed.
In an unboxing video, it was revealed that the device also features an American flag with 11 stripes rather than the standard 13. Additionally, it includes an old-fashioned headphone jack and comes pre-loaded with Truth Social. Holland expressed concerns regarding the phone's technical specifications, stating that details about the processor and security updates remain unknown. He emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the shipping of orders made by customers, suggesting that while some media professionals have received the phone, there is little evidence of actual customers getting their orders fulfilled.
The CEO of Trump Mobile, Pat O’Brien, acknowledged the challenges of the technology business and stated that due to high demand, orders are being processed as quickly as possible. Despite positive remarks about the phone’s safety case, reviewers questioned its network coverage and battery life. CNET reporter Corinne Reichert received mixed feedback on the phone’s appearance, with comments highlighting the controversial gold color. However, she noted that the automatically filtered selfie camera received positive attention from those who tested it.
