Reports Allege Israeli Secret Bases in Iraq and Shepherd's Death

Summary

Investigations suggest Israel established covert military bases in Iraq's western desert, with a local shepherd's death linked to their discovery.

Recent reports indicate that Israel established at least two secret military bases in Iraq's western desert, allegedly used to support operations against Iran.

According to these reports, the first base was discovered in early March by a local shepherd named Awad al-Shammari, who noticed unusual military activity, including helicopter movements.

Subsequently, al-Shammari was reportedly killed when his vehicle was targeted by a helicopter. His cousin, Amir al-Shammari, recounted, "We were told that a burned-up pickup truck the same as Awad’s was out there, but no one dared to go there. When we got there, we found the car and body burned."

The existence of these bases has sparked controversy in Iraq, a country that does not have diplomatic relations with Israel. Iraqi officials have expressed concern over the violation of the nation's sovereignty.

The Iraqi government has not officially commented on these reports.
