DNA Analysis and Doorbell Footage Central to Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Investigation
Investigators focus on DNA evidence and doorbell camera footage in the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie, missing since February 1, 2026.
Investigators are intensifying efforts to locate Nancy Guthrie, 84, who was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1, 2026. The case has garnered national attention, partly due to her being the mother of "Today" show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.
A key focus of the investigation is DNA evidence recovered from Guthrie's residence. The sample, initially analyzed by a private laboratory in Florida, has been sent to the FBI's laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, for further examination. Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the DNA sample or its exact location within the home. Former FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jason Pack noted that DNA analysis is a meticulous process, stating, "That kind of work is slow because it has to be right."
Another significant lead is doorbell camera footage from Guthrie's home. The video, recovered from backend systems, shows a masked individual tampering with the camera early on February 1. The FBI released this footage to the public, seeking assistance in identifying the suspect.
Despite these developments, no arrests have been made, and Guthrie's whereabouts remain unknown. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to her location or the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie continues to appeal to the public for assistance, emphasizing the family's commitment to finding her mother. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the FBI tip line.
