Summary

The U.S. State Department will release limited-edition passports featuring President Donald Trump's portrait to commemorate America's 250th anniversary.

The U.S. State Department has announced plans to release limited-edition passports featuring President Donald Trump's portrait to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary. These special passports will be available starting in July at the Washington Passport Agency.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. passports to commemorate this historic occasion. He emphasized that these passports will feature customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the U.S. passport among the most secure documents in the world.

The design includes President Trump's portrait and signature overlaid on the Declaration of Independence on the inside cover. Another page features an illustration of the Founding Fathers signing the 1776 document, set against a background of the American flag. The back cover displays a rendering of the flag with '250' centered within a 13-star circle.

These commemorative passports will be issued at no additional cost to applicants at the Washington Passport Agency until supplies are exhausted. The State Department has not specified the exact number of passports to be released. Applicants preferring the standard passport design can apply online or at other passport agencies.

The release coincides with other 250th anniversary celebrations, including a 16-day transformation of the National Mall into the Great American State Fair, featuring livestock competitions and rodeo events.
