Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned from President Donald Trump's Cabinet amid multiple allegations of misconduct, including an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate and misuse of department resources.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung announced on Monday that Chavez-DeRemer will be leaving the administration to take a position in the private sector.
Chavez-DeRemer, a former Republican congresswoman from Oregon, was confirmed as Labor Secretary in March 2025. During her tenure, she faced scrutiny over her leadership, with reports indicating that she and her aides engaged in inappropriate interactions with staff and misused departmental resources.
Deputy Secretary Keith Sonderling has been appointed as acting Labor Secretary following her departure.
Chavez-DeRemer's resignation marks the third departure of a female Cabinet member from the Trump administration in recent weeks, following the exits of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
