Republican Clay Fuller Wins Georgia's 14th District Special Election; Democrats Narrow Margin

Republican Clay Fuller has won the special election runoff for Georgia's 14th Congressional District, defeating Democrat Shawn Harris. Fuller, a district attorney and Air National Guard veteran endorsed by President Donald Trump, secured 55.9% of the vote, while Harris, a retired Army brigadier general, received 44.1%.

This election was held to fill the seat vacated by Marjorie Taylor Greene, who resigned in January following disagreements with President Trump. Greene had previously won the district by approximately 29 points in 2024.

Despite Fuller's victory, the election results indicate a significant shift in voter sentiment within the traditionally conservative district. In the 2024 presidential election, President Trump carried the district with 68% of the vote. The reduced margin in this special election suggests increased competitiveness for Democrats in areas previously considered Republican strongholds.

Fuller's win temporarily bolsters the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, where the party holds a slim 217-214 advantage, with one independent member and two vacant seats. However, the narrowing gap in this election raises questions about Republican prospects in the upcoming midterm elections.

In Wisconsin, liberal Judge Chris Taylor won a seat on the state’s Supreme Court, further solidifying the liberal majority.
