Trump Threatens Iran with Infrastructure Strikes Amid Ceasefire Deadline
President Trump has set an 8 p.m. Tuesday deadline for Iran to agree to a ceasefire, threatening to target the country's infrastructure if no deal is reached.
President Donald Trump has intensified his warnings to Iran, setting an 8 p.m. Tuesday deadline for Tehran to agree to a ceasefire or face significant attacks on its infrastructure.
"The entire country can be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night," Trump stated during a White House press briefing on Monday.
The president emphasized that any agreement must ensure the free flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.
Iran has rejected the latest ceasefire proposal, conveyed through mediators from Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei described the American demands as "both highly excessive and unusual, as well as illogical."
Despite the rejection, Trump expressed optimism about the negotiations, noting that the current Iranian negotiators are "much more reasonable" than their predecessors. He acknowledged the challenges in communication, stating that the U.S. is "communicating like they used to communicate 2,000 years ago, with children bringing a note back and forth."
The situation remains tense as the deadline approaches, with both sides holding firm on their positions.
