Springs Fire in Moreno Valley Prompts Evacuations as Blaze Grows to Over 4,000 Acres
The Springs Fire near Moreno Valley has expanded to over 4,000 acres, leading to mandatory evacuations and road closures as firefighters work to contain the blaze.
A brush fire that ignited east of Moreno Valley on Friday morning has rapidly expanded, burning over 4,000 acres by the evening. The Springs Fire, which began around 11 a.m. near Gilman Springs Road, prompted mandatory evacuation orders for several zones, including MOE-0507, MOE-0641, and MOE-0744. Evacuation warnings were also issued for adjacent areas.
An evacuation shelter has been established at Valley View High School, located at 13135 Nason St. in Moreno Valley. Additionally, the Lake Perris State Recreation Area was closed, and Moreno Valley College was evacuated due to deteriorating air quality.
Firefighters, supported by helicopters and air tankers, are working to contain the blaze, which was 10% contained as of Friday evening. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
In northern Los Angeles County, the Crown Fire near Acton has burned nearly 300 acres. Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued for surrounding communities, with approximately 1,000 structures within the evacuation zone.
