Piranha Games Reduces Workforce Amid Economic Restructuring
Piranha Games, the developer behind the MechWarrior series, has laid off approximately 30% of its staff as part of an economic restructuring effort.
Piranha Games, known for developing the MechWarrior series, has reduced its workforce by about 30%, affecting 17 employees. CEO Russ Bullock confirmed the layoffs, attributing them to economic restructuring. Despite the staff reduction, the studio remains committed to ongoing projects, including a new MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC set for release in May and another MechWarrior product scheduled for the fall. This marks the second round of layoffs at Piranha Games in just over a year. In January 2025, parent company Enad Global 7 restructured the studio, resulting in 38 job cuts following the underperformance of MechWarrior 5: Clans. Enad Global 7 CEO Ji Ham stated at the time that the layoffs were necessary to ensure the studio's profitability and ability to deliver new content as planned.
