PUBG Studios is expanding its game offerings by introducing new modes and collaborations aimed at diversifying gameplay and attracting a broader audience. The upcoming Xeno Point mode, set to launch on April 8, is a sci-fi co-op PvE roguelike that integrates progression systems with strategic gameplay. This addition marks a significant step in transforming PUBG into a multifaceted gaming platform.
In a strategic partnership announced in December 2024, PUBG Studios is collaborating with Starbreeze, the developer behind the PAYDAY franchise, to introduce a co-op heist mode within PUBG: Battlegrounds. This mode, developed under a work-for-hire agreement, will engage approximately 25% of Starbreeze's development team over the course of a year. Mats Juhl, acting CEO of Starbreeze AB, stated, "This partnership with KRAFTON offers a unique opportunity to elevate PAYDAY and introduce it to a broader global audience."
These initiatives reflect PUBG Studios' commitment to evolving the game beyond its original battle royale format. By incorporating diverse gameplay experiences and leveraging collaborations with established franchises, the studio aims to enhance player engagement and establish PUBG as a versatile gaming platform.
