Former Xbox Developer States Turn 10's Forza Motorsport Team Has Been Disbanded
Reports indicate significant staff reductions at Turn 10 Studios, with suggestions that the Forza Motorsport team has been dissolved.
As part of recent job reductions at Microsoft, reports indicate that Forza Motorsport developer Turn 10 Studios has experienced a staff reduction of nearly 50%. According to a former employee, the impact may be greater.
Fred Russell, a former content coordinator at Turn 10, posted on Facebook that the Forza Motorsport team has been disbanded. Xbox content creator Klobrille also commented on the situation, suggesting that Turn 10 may now function as a support team for Forza Tech and Forza Horizon in the future.
"Turn 10 Studios has shuttered the Forza Motorsport space and the team is no more. I loved my time there."
A former Turn 10 employee is reporting that Xbox has effectively closed the Forza Motorsport team at Turn 10 Studios. It appears the studio is now a support studio for Forza Horizon and ForzaTech. Forza Motorsport has been a notable Xbox franchise for over 20 years.
It should be noted that Russell has not been with the Xbox developer for several years, so some of his statements may be based on publicly available information. However, it is possible that he maintains connections with current or recent staff. Additional indications of significant changes at Turn 10 have also emerged.
Another Facebook post from a senior design director at Microsoft, who has worked on Forza Motorsport since its inception, references a major job loss. Scott Catlin shared reflections on his experience with the franchise, noting his departure from the company.
"After nearly a quarter century, I was laid off from Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios on Wednesday. I'm still considering the effect it will have on me and my family. I met some amazing people and friends during my time there. We had a good run."
At this time, Microsoft has not issued a public statement regarding the future of Turn 10 or the Forza Motorsport series. Current indications suggest that the long-running racing series may be winding down. It is known that another Forza title is planned for 2026, which is widely believed to be the next entry in the Horizon series from Playground Games.
