Samsung Unveils Galaxy S26 Series with Enhanced AI and Privacy Features

Summary

Samsung introduces the Galaxy S26 lineup, featuring advanced AI capabilities and a new Privacy Display to protect sensitive information.

Samsung Electronics has launched its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S26 series, at an event in San Francisco. The lineup includes the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, all emphasizing enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and privacy features.

A notable addition is the integration of Perplexity's AI assistant, accessible via the command "Hey, Plex." This complements existing AI tools like Google Gemini and Samsung's Bixby, aiming to provide a more personalized user experience. Choi Won-joon, president and chief operating officer of Samsung's mobile division, stated that this strategy focuses on "building an open and inclusive integrated AI ecosystem that gives users more choice."

The Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces the Privacy Display feature, an advanced lighting system that dims the screen when viewed from side angles, safeguarding sensitive information from onlookers. This dynamic feature can be customized to obscure specific details such as PINs, passwords, notifications, or entire apps.

Samsung is also collaborating with Google to develop an AI operating system for future Android versions. Sameer Samat, president of Android Ecosystem at Google, mentioned that this initiative aims to transition "from an OS to an intelligent system that truly understands and works for you," with more details to be revealed in the coming months.

The Galaxy S26 series is set to be available starting March 11, with the base model priced at $899, the S26+ at $1,099, and the S26 Ultra at $1,299. These prices reflect a $100 increase over their predecessors.
