REMAPSEN President Bamba Youssouf highlighted the intentional alignment of the forum with World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day, stating, 'Neglected tropical diseases continue to affect millions across Africa, yet they receive limited media attention. This forum places journalists at the center of advocacy to change that reality.'

Dr. Michel Sidibé, African Union Special Envoy for the African Medicines Agency, underscored the essential role of journalism in public health, noting, 'There is no effective public health response without credible journalism. Journalists are essential partners in combating misinformation, demanding accountability, and ensuring that no community is left behind.'

The upcoming 2026 forum in Accra aims to strengthen Africa-led discussions on reproductive health, family planning, climate resilience, and health communication, fostering collaboration among journalists and partners across the continent.
