Man Dies and Two Women Injured in Dublin Assault

A man in his 50s has died following an assault in the Ballybough area of Dublin early this morning. Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an incident on Foster Terrace shortly before 1:30 am. Upon arrival, they discovered the man with serious injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two women, both in their 60s, were also injured during the assault. One woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital awaiting discharge, while the other suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and continues to receive medical treatment. The scene on Foster Terrace and a nearby residence have been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course. A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, and an incident room has been established at Mountjoy Garda Station. No arrests have been made at this time. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. They are also seeking any camera footage, including dashcam footage from the area between 1:00 am and 1:30 am on January 31, 2026.
