Fr Eddie Deeney Celebrates 90th Birthday with Book Launch and Charity Appeal

Fr Eddie Deeney, a missionary priest from Rathmullan, County Donegal, is celebrating his 90th birthday today with the launch of his new book, The Bits and Pieces of Everyday. The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the St Vincent De Paul Centre in Rathmullan, and the community is invited to attend.

Ordained in 1961, Fr Deeney dedicated much of his career to missionary work in Nigeria and South Africa with the Society of African Missions (SMA). He also served in SMA parishes in London. His new book reflects on various experiences from his missionary journey.

In lieu of gifts, Fr Deeney has requested that attendees make charitable donations. Contributions will be divided between the local Society of St Vincent de Paul and the Tanga House Project for Albino Children in Tanzania.

Fr Deeney's early education took place at St Joseph’s National School in Rathmullan and St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny. His lifelong commitment to service continues to inspire the community.
