Justice Department Releases Over 3 Million Pages of Epstein Investigation Files

Summary

The U.S. Department of Justice has released more than 3 million pages of documents, including videos and images, related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, fulfilling obligations under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has released over 3 million pages of documents pertaining to the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died by suicide in 2019. This release includes more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, as part of the DOJ's compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized the department's commitment to transparency, stating that no individual, including former President Donald Trump, was shielded during the review process. He noted that while many documents are heavily redacted to protect victim identities and ongoing investigations, the release aims to provide public insight into Epstein's activities and associations.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law by President Trump in November 2025, mandated the DOJ to release all unclassified materials related to Epstein by December 19, 2025. Despite missing this deadline, the DOJ has now produced approximately 3.5 million pages in compliance with the act.

The released documents encompass emails, FBI reports, news clippings, and witness statements. Blanche clarified that content including personal victim information, medical records, and material that could hinder ongoing investigations was withheld. He denied claims that the DOJ selectively withheld files to protect individuals, asserting that legal constraints necessitated certain redactions.

This disclosure marks a significant step in addressing public and legislative demands for transparency regarding Epstein's crimes and the government's prior knowledge of his actions. The DOJ has pledged to continue reviewing and releasing additional materials as they become available.
