EU Imposes Sanctions on Seven Individuals Amid Escalating Violence in Sudan

The European Union has imposed sanctions on seven individuals associated with Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) due to escalating violence and human rights violations in the country.

Among those sanctioned are five RSF-affiliated individuals, including Major Algoney Hamdan Dagalo Musa, brother of the RSF leader, and two SAF-affiliated individuals, such as Al-Misbah Abu Zaid Talha, commander of the Islamist militia Baraa bin Malik Battalion.

These individuals are linked to entities that threaten Sudan's peace, stability, and security. The sanctions include asset freezes, prohibitions on providing funds or economic resources to the listed individuals, and travel bans to the EU.

This action aligns with the EU's October 2025 Council Conclusions on Sudan, emphasizing the restoration of the rule of law, accountability, and respect for international law. The EU remains committed to employing diplomatic tools, including targeted sanctions, to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

With these additions, the EU's Sudan sanctions regime now targets 18 individuals and eight entities.
