Second Lady Usha Vance has announced she is expecting her fourth child, a son, due in late July.
In a social media post on Tuesday, the couple expressed gratitude for the medical support provided by military doctors and the staff who help balance their public service with family life.
Usha Vance, 40, and Vice President JD Vance, 41, are already parents to three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
This will be the first time a second lady has given birth while in office. Historically, few top U.S. leaders have had children during their tenure. One notable example is President Grover Cleveland, whose wife, Frances Cleveland, gave birth to their second child in 1893 during his second term.
Vice President Vance has been a vocal advocate for increasing birth rates in the United States. In a 2025 speech at the March for Life, he stated, "I want more babies in the United States of America."
Usha Vance, born Usha Chilukuri, is a Yale Law School graduate and former corporate litigator. She met JD Vance at Yale in 2010, and they married in 2014.
