Ohio Grand Jury Indicts Michael McKee in Double Homicide of Ex-Wife and Her Husband
An Ohio grand jury has indicted Michael McKee, a Chicago-based vascular surgeon, for the December 30 murders of his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, and her husband, Dr. Spencer Tepe, in their Columbus home.
An Ohio grand jury has indicted Michael David McKee, 39, a vascular surgeon from Chicago, on charges of aggravated murder and aggravated burglary in connection with the December 30 shooting deaths of his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, 39, and her husband, Dr. Spencer Tepe, 37, in their Columbus home.
McKee was arrested in Rockford, Illinois, on January 10. He waived his right to an extradition hearing and is currently awaiting transfer to Ohio. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 23 in Winnebago County, Illinois.
Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant stated that surveillance footage from the night of the murders shows a person walking down a dark alley near the Tepes' residence, whom authorities now believe to be McKee. Additionally, his vehicle was identified near the crime scene, and a firearm found in his Illinois residence matched evidence from the scene.
The case has drawn national attention due to its mysterious circumstances: no signs of forced entry, no weapon recovered at the scene, and the couple's two young children and their dog were found unharmed in the home.
Authorities have not disclosed the type of firearm used in the killings. The hospital where McKee was employed, OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, has stated it is cooperating with the investigation.
Chief Bryant expressed gratitude for community assistance, noting that public tips were instrumental in gathering evidence leading to McKee's arrest.
