Jimmy Kimmel Wins Best Talk Show at 2026 Critics Choice Awards

At the 31st Critics Choice Awards held on January 4, 2026, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, Jimmy Kimmel's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' was honored with the Best Talk Show award.

In his acceptance speech, Kimmel humorously acknowledged President Donald Trump, stating, "I want to thank our president, Donald Jennifer Trump, without whom, we would be going home empty-handed tonight. So thank you, Mr. President, for all the many ridiculous things you do each and every day."

Kimmel also expressed gratitude to the writers, actors, producers, and union members who supported the show during its recent challenges, emphasizing the importance of free speech: "Thanks to all the writers and actors and producers and union members, many of you who are in this room, who supported us, who really stepped forward us and reminded us that we do not take free speech for granted in this city or in this country. Your actions were important, and we appreciate them."

This recognition follows a tumultuous period for Kimmel. In September 2025, ABC temporarily suspended 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' after Kimmel's remarks regarding the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk led to backlash. The suspension was lifted after six days, and the show resumed on September 23, 2025.

The 31st Critics Choice Awards ceremony was hosted by Chelsea Handler for the fourth consecutive year and broadcast live on E! and USA Network.
