Body Found Near Home of Missing Texas Teen Camila Mendoza Olmos
Authorities discovered a body close to the residence of 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, who has been missing since Christmas Eve. The identity and cause of death are pending confirmation by the medical examiner.
A body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in a field approximately 100 yards from the home of 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, who has been missing since December 24. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that the body was found around 4:45 p.m. local time by a joint team from the sheriff's office and the FBI.
The body was wearing clothing similar to what Mendoza Olmos was believed to be wearing when she was last seen. A firearm was also located near the body. Salazar noted that a firearm belonging to a relative of Mendoza Olmos had been reported missing, but it has not yet been determined if the recovered firearm is the same.
Authorities do not suspect foul play at this time and have indicated there are signs consistent with self-harm. Salazar mentioned that Mendoza Olmos had been experiencing a difficult period, with indicators of suicidal ideation and undiagnosed signs of depression.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office is working to confirm the identity of the body and determine the cause and manner of death. Salazar expressed hope that the process could be expedited to provide the community with answers.
Mendoza Olmos was last seen on the morning of December 24 near her car outside her home in northwest Bexar County. A neighbor's doorbell camera captured footage of a person believed to be her walking alone around 7 a.m. that day.
