New York City experienced its most substantial snowfall in nearly four years, with Central Park recording 4.3 inches—the highest since January 2022. The storm's impact varied across the region; parts of Connecticut, such as New Fairfield and Bridgeport, saw accumulations of 9.1 and 7.1 inches respectively, while areas in Long Island like Babylon and Orient reported 7.5 inches.
In contrast, New Jersey experienced lower snowfall totals due to ice, with Harrison receiving 4 inches and Newark 2.5 inches. The National Weather Service has cautioned residents about the formation of "black ice" as temperatures are expected to stay below freezing through early Sunday.
"Motorists and pedestrians should use caution. Reduce speed, allow extra time, and be prepared for areas of slippery travel Saturday evening through midday Sunday," the weather service advised.
Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution on roads and sidewalks to prevent accidents and injuries during this period of icy conditions.
