Arkansas Ticket Wins $1.817 Billion Powerball Jackpot on Christmas Eve
A single ticket sold in Arkansas matched all six numbers in the Christmas Eve Powerball drawing, securing a $1.817 billion jackpot—the second-largest in U.S. history.
A single Powerball ticket sold in Arkansas matched all six numbers in the December 24 drawing, winning a $1.817 billion jackpot—the second-largest in U.S. lottery history. The winning numbers were 4, 25, 31, 52, 59, and the red Powerball 19. The ticket was purchased at a Murphy USA gas station in Cabot, Arkansas, approximately 26 miles northeast of Little Rock.
The winner has the option to receive the full $1.817 billion as an annuity paid over 30 years or a lump-sum payment of $834.9 million, both before taxes.
"Congratulations to the newest Powerball jackpot winner! This is truly an extraordinary, life-changing prize," said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO.
This marks the second time a Powerball jackpot has been won in Arkansas; the first was in 2010.
The jackpot had been accumulating since September 6, following 46 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with drawings held three times a week.
