During an enforcement operation in Glen Burnie, Maryland, ICE agents shot a driver who allegedly attempted to run them over; both the driver and a passenger were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

On December 24, 2025, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were involved in a shooting during an enforcement operation. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), agents approached a white van and instructed the driver, identified as Tiago Alexandre Sousa-Martins from Portugal, to turn off the engine. Sousa-Martins allegedly refused, attempted to flee, and began ramming ICE vehicles. He then drove directly at the agents, prompting them to open fire and strike him.

Sousa-Martins entered the U.S. in December 2008 and overstayed his visa, which expired in February 2009. DHS did not provide additional information on Serrano-Esquivel's immigration history.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating the shooting, while the FBI is reviewing the alleged assault on federal agents. ICE will also conduct an internal review of the incident.
