Russian Strikes Severely Impact Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure
Massive Russian missile and drone attacks have left over a million Ukrainian households without power, primarily affecting the southern regions, as diplomatic talks are set to commence in Berlin.
Overnight Russian missile and drone attacks have severely damaged Ukraine's energy infrastructure, leaving more than a million households without power, particularly in the southern regions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over 450 drones and 30 missiles targeted energy and industrial facilities, with Odesa being among the hardest hit areas.
The attacks resulted in significant power outages across multiple regions, including Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson. In Odesa, grain silos at the port caught fire, and two individuals were injured. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed five injuries and widespread power loss across seven regions.
In response, Ukrainian forces conducted a drone strike in Russia's Saratov region, resulting in two civilian deaths and damage to residential buildings. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed to have intercepted 41 Ukrainian drones overnight.
These developments occur as U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential adviser Jared Kushner are scheduled to meet with President Zelenskyy and European leaders in Berlin to discuss a U.S.-backed peace proposal. The talks aim to address ongoing territorial disputes and seek a resolution to the conflict.
