The University of Michigan has terminated head football coach Sherrone Moore, effective immediately, after an internal investigation revealed an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Athletic Director Warde Manuel stated, "This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior."
Moore, who succeeded Jim Harbaugh in 2024, led the Wolverines to an 8-5 record in his first season and a 9-3 record in his second. The team is scheduled to play No. 14 Texas in the Citrus Bowl on December 31.
Associate Head Coach Biff Poggi has been appointed interim head coach as the university initiates a search for Moore's permanent replacement.
