Kremlin Welcomes U.S. Security Strategy Amid Ongoing Strikes in Ukraine
Russia expresses approval of the new U.S. national security strategy, while continuing military operations in Ukraine result in civilian casualties.
The Kremlin has expressed approval of the United States' updated national security strategy, stating it aligns closely with Russia's own global outlook. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the strategy promotes dialogue over confrontation and hopes it will lead to constructive cooperation, particularly concerning the conflict in Ukraine.
Despite these diplomatic overtures, Russian military operations in Ukraine have continued. Recent missile, drone, and shelling attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. In the northern Chernihiv region, a drone attack killed one person, while a combined missile and drone assault on the central city of Kremenchuk caused power and water outages. Additionally, shelling in the Kharkiv region led to three deaths and ten injuries.
These developments coincide with ongoing U.S.-Ukrainian negotiations aimed at ending the conflict. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described recent peace talks with U.S. representatives as "constructive but not easy," ahead of upcoming discussions with European leaders.
