Brian Walshe's Trial Begins for Wife Ana's Disappearance and Alleged Murder
Brian Walshe stands trial for the alleged murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, who disappeared in January 2023; prosecutors present evidence of incriminating online searches and recovered items linked to Ana.
Brian Walshe's trial commenced in Dedham, Massachusetts, over two years after the disappearance of his wife, Ana Walshe, on January 1, 2023. Ana, a Serbian-born real estate agent, was last seen following a New Year's Eve gathering at their home. Her body has never been found. Prosecutors allege that Brian Walshe killed and dismembered her, citing internet searches on body disposal and DNA evidence found on tools recovered from trash bags. These bags also contained items linked to Ana, such as a purse, boots, and a vaccination card.
In November 2025, Walshe pleaded guilty to charges of misleading police and improperly disposing of a body but maintained his innocence regarding the murder charge. His defense argues that Ana's death was sudden and unexplained, claiming Brian panicked and attempted to protect their three children, now in state custody. Prosecutors have highlighted that Ana had a $2.7 million life insurance policy naming Brian as the beneficiary, raising further suspicion.
At the time of Ana's disappearance, Brian Walshe was awaiting sentencing for an unrelated art fraud case involving the sale of fake Andy Warhol paintings. He was ultimately sentenced to over three years in prison and ordered to repay $475,000 in restitution.
The trial is expected to continue with both sides presenting their arguments and evidence in the coming weeks.
