Thai Woman Found Alive in Coffin Before Scheduled Cremation
A 65-year-old Thai woman, presumed dead, was discovered alive in her coffin at a temple near Bangkok, prompting immediate medical attention.
A 65-year-old woman from Phitsanulok province, Thailand, was found alive in her coffin at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham temple in Nonthaburi, near Bangkok, just before her scheduled cremation. The woman's brother had transported her approximately 500 kilometers to the temple after she appeared to stop breathing two days prior.
Temple staff heard faint knocking from the coffin. Upon opening it, they found the woman moving slightly and opening her eyes. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The woman had been bedridden for about two years. Her brother, lacking an official death certificate, initially sought to donate her organs to a Bangkok hospital, which declined without proper documentation. He then approached the temple for cremation services.
The temple's abbot stated they would cover her medical expenses.
