Thai Woman Found Alive in Coffin Before Scheduled Cremation
A 65-year-old Thai woman, presumed dead, was discovered alive in her coffin at a temple in Nonthaburi province, moments before her scheduled cremation.
A 65-year-old woman in Thailand, previously declared deceased, was found alive in her coffin at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham temple in Nonthaburi province, just before her scheduled cremation. The temple's general and financial affairs manager, Pairat Soodthoop, recounted that the woman's brother had transported her from Phitsanulok province for the cremation. While discussing the necessary documentation, temple staff heard faint knocking from the coffin. Upon opening it, they discovered the woman moving slightly and opening her eyes. The brother explained that his sister had been bedridden for two years and appeared to stop breathing two days prior. After a hospital in Bangkok declined to accept her body without an official death certificate, he brought her to the temple for cremation. Following the discovery, the woman was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, with the temple offering to cover her medical expenses.
