Amazon Leo Unveils Ultra Antenna with 1 Gbps Speeds, Initiates Enterprise Preview
Amazon Leo introduces the Ultra antenna, offering up to 1 Gbps download speeds, and begins an enterprise preview ahead of a broader rollout next year.
Amazon Leo, formerly known as Project Kuiper, has unveiled its Ultra antenna, designed to deliver download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds up to 400 Mbps. This development marks a significant step in Amazon's efforts to provide high-speed satellite internet services. The Ultra antenna is engineered for durability, capable of withstanding various environmental conditions, and features a design that eliminates moving parts, facilitating rapid installation and reliable operation.
In addition to the Ultra model, Amazon Leo offers two other antennas: the Pro, supporting up to 400 Mbps download speeds, and the Nano, capable of up to 100 Mbps. These options aim to cater to a range of customer needs.
To support early adoption, Amazon Leo has launched an enterprise preview program, allowing select business customers to test the network using production hardware and software. This initiative enables Amazon to gather customer feedback and tailor solutions for specific industries ahead of a broader rollout.
Amazon Leo's satellite network is designed to extend reliable, high-speed internet to those beyond the reach of existing networks, including businesses, government entities, and organizations operating in areas without reliable connectivity. The service is expected to be offered to select enterprise customers by the end of 2025, with a wider rollout planned for 2026.
