Morgan Geyser Missing After Leaving Wisconsin Group Home

Summary

Morgan Geyser, convicted in the 2014 Slender Man stabbing, has gone missing after removing her electronic monitoring device and leaving a group home in Madison, Wisconsin.

Morgan Geyser, convicted in the 2014 Slender Man stabbing, has been reported missing after removing her electronic monitoring device and leaving a group home in Madison, Wisconsin. Authorities state that Geyser, now 23, was last seen around 8 p.m. on Saturday with an adult acquaintance. The Madison Police Department was notified of her disappearance on Sunday morning.

Geyser was placed in the group home earlier this year following her conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. She had been committed there since 2018 after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the 2014 stabbing of her classmate, Payton Leutner. The attack was reportedly carried out to appease the fictional character Slender Man.

Geyser's attorney, Tony Cotton, expressed concern over her disappearance.

In 2014, Geyser and her friend, Anissa Weier, both 12 at the time, lured Leutner to a park in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where Geyser stabbed her 19 times while Weier encouraged the act. Leutner survived the attack. Both Geyser and Weier were found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and were committed to mental health institutions. Weier was granted conditional release in 2021.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Geyser's whereabouts to contact the Madison Police Department.
