Border Patrol Agents to Deploy in Charlotte and New Orleans for Immigration Operations
The Trump administration plans to deploy Border Patrol agents to Charlotte, North Carolina, and New Orleans, Louisiana, as part of expanded immigration enforcement efforts.
The Trump administration is set to deploy U.S. Border Patrol agents to Charlotte, North Carolina, and New Orleans, Louisiana, as part of its ongoing immigration enforcement strategy.
Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden confirmed that federal officials informed him of the impending arrival of Border Patrol personnel in Charlotte as early as this weekend or the beginning of next week.
The operations in both cities are expected to involve armored vehicles, including "BearCats," and special operations teams. Internal documents have reportedly named these initiatives "Charlotte Web" and "Catahoula Crunch," respectively.
Gregory Bovino, the Border Patrol official who led recent enforcement efforts in Chicago, is anticipated to oversee the upcoming operations in Charlotte and New Orleans.
The Department of Homeland Security has declined to comment on specific future operations, stating, "We do not discuss future or potential operations."
Local officials have expressed concern over the deployments. Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles acknowledged residents' anxieties and emphasized that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department would not participate in federal immigration operations unless criminal activity is involved.
These deployments are part of the administration's broader strategy to enhance immigration enforcement in cities across the United States.
