Samsung Galaxy S26 Series to Feature Slimmer Design and Qi2 Wireless Charging

Summary

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series is expected to introduce a thinner design and incorporate Qi2 wireless charging technology, marking a first for the company's smartphones.

Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy S26 series is anticipated to showcase a slimmer profile and integrate Qi2 wireless charging capabilities.

Leaked diagrams suggest the base Galaxy S26 model will measure approximately 6.9mm in thickness, making it 0.3mm thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy S25. The design includes a triple-camera setup housed within a vertical pill-shaped module, reminiscent of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

A notable addition is the inclusion of a ring on the back panel, likely indicating a built-in magnetic system for Qi2 wireless charging. If confirmed, this would be Samsung's first smartphone to feature Qi2 certification. Previous models, such as the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7, held Qi2 Ready certifications, requiring external cases to support Qi2 wireless charging.

The Galaxy S26 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader. The camera system may include a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens.

Under the hood, the device could be powered by Samsung's 2nm Exynos 2600 processor, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 variant available in select regions. Memory configurations are anticipated to start at 12GB of RAM, with storage options of 256GB and 512GB. The smartphone is likely to run on Android 16-based One UI 8.5, introducing several new features and user interface enhancements.

Connectivity options are expected to include GPS, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and a USB 3.2 Type-C port. The device is also projected to carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Powering the Galaxy S26 could be a 4,300mAh battery, supporting 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
