Disney Channels Removed from YouTube TV Amid Contract Dispute
YouTube TV has removed Disney-owned channels, including ABC and ESPN, following unsuccessful negotiations over a new distribution agreement.
As of October 30, 2025, YouTube TV subscribers have lost access to over 20 Disney-owned channels, including ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, FX, and National Geographic, due to a failure in reaching a new carriage agreement between YouTube TV and The Walt Disney Company.
The blackout affects a range of programming, notably impacting sports coverage such as college football, NBA, NFL, and NHL games. YouTube TV, which serves over 9 million subscribers, stated that Disney's proposed terms would lead to higher costs for users and benefit Disney's own platforms like Hulu + Live TV.
In response, YouTube TV is offering affected customers a $20 monthly credit if the dispute continues. Disney, on the other hand, accused YouTube TV of refusing to pay fair rates and using its market dominance to pressure Disney.
Subscribers seeking alternatives can access Disney content through other streaming services. FuboTV offers a selection of channels, including ESPN and ABC, with a discounted 'Pro' subscription at $54.99 per month. Hulu + Live TV provides a bundle that includes Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN Select, available at a limited-time discounted rate of $64.99 per month until November 5, 2025. Sling TV offers ESPN and other live sports channels, with a free month of its 'Premium Pass' currently available.
Both YouTube TV and Disney have expressed a commitment to resolving the dispute but have not indicated when subscribers can expect the channels to return.
