Disney Channels Removed from YouTube TV Amid Contract Dispute
YouTube TV subscribers lose access to Disney-owned channels, including ABC and ESPN, following failed contract negotiations.
YouTube TV subscribers have lost access to Disney-owned channels, including ABC, ESPN, and Disney Channel, after the two companies failed to reach a new distribution agreement by the October 30, 2025 deadline. The blackout affects over 20 channels and leaves subscribers without access to major sports and entertainment programming.
In response to the impasse, Disney has requested that YouTube TV restore ABC for Election Day to ensure subscribers have access to critical information. A Disney spokesperson stated, "We believe in putting the public interest first and hope YouTube TV will take this small step for their customers while we continue to work toward a fair agreement."
YouTube TV has expressed frustration over the situation, accusing Disney of using blackout threats as a negotiation tactic that would lead to higher subscription costs and benefit Disney’s own platforms like Hulu + Live TV and Fubo. The company has offered affected customers a $20 credit if the dispute persists.
This dispute is part of a broader trend of carriage disagreements in the television industry, as programming companies seek higher fees to offset increased costs, while pay-TV providers push back to control rising subscription prices.
