Kamala Harris Considers 2028 Presidential Run Amid Political Speculation
Former Vice President Kamala Harris indicates potential interest in a 2028 presidential bid, emphasizing her commitment to public service despite previous electoral setbacks.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris has signaled a potential interest in running for president in 2028, stating in a recent BBC interview that she is "not done" with politics. Harris emphasized her lifelong dedication to public service, remarking, "I have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it's in my bones."
Addressing her standing in early polls for the 2028 Democratic primary, Harris dismissed their significance, stating, "I never listen to polls. If I had listened to polls, I never would have run for my first office or my second office, and I certainly wouldn't be sitting here in this interview."
Harris also criticized former President Donald Trump, labeling him a "tyrant" with "thin skin" who is weaponizing the justice system. She cited the suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel by ABC after he joked about Republican reactions to the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Harris noted that Trump's appointee had threatened ABC, leading to Kimmel's ousting, and commented, "His skin is so thin he couldn't endure criticism from a joke, and attempted to shut down an entire media organization in the process."
In response, a White House spokesperson stated, "When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should've taken the hint—the American people don't care about her absurd lies."
Harris is currently promoting her book, "107 Days," which chronicles her brief 2024 presidential campaign following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race.
