Warner Bros. Discovery Considers Sale Amid Unsolicited Offers
Warner Bros. Discovery is reviewing strategic alternatives, including a potential sale, following unsolicited interest from multiple parties.
Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of HBO and CNN, announced on Tuesday that it is reviewing strategic alternatives, including a potential sale, after receiving unsolicited interest from multiple parties for both the entire company and its Warner Bros. division.
The company had previously outlined plans in June 2025 to split into two separate entities: one focusing on streaming and studio operations, and the other on cable networks. This separation was intended to enhance strategic flexibility and shareholder value.
Reports indicate that Paramount, owned by Skydance, Netflix, and Comcast have shown interest in acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount had earlier approached the company with a majority-cash offer, which was initially rejected.
Analysts estimate that the combined value of Warner Bros. Discovery's assets, after accounting for debt, could be around $74 billion, suggesting that an offer in the range of $60 billion might appeal to shareholders.
As of Monday's close of trading, Warner Bros. Discovery had a market value of more than $45 billion. The company also carries billions of dollars of debt on its balance sheet.
The company emphasized that while it explores these strategic alternatives, it will continue to work on the previously announced split of its cable networks from its streaming and studio business.
