Prince Andrew Relinquishes Duke of York Title Amid Renewed Scrutiny

Prince Andrew has announced he will no longer use his Duke of York title and other royal honors, citing ongoing allegations that distract from the royal family's work. In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, he said, "I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me."
This decision follows the release of excerpts from a forthcoming memoir by Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual misconduct when she was 17, after being trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has consistently denied these allegations and settled a civil lawsuit with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing.
Previously, Andrew stepped back from public duties in 2019 and relinquished his military affiliations and royal patronages in 2022. Despite these actions, he retained the Duke of York title until now.
The relinquishment of his titles is seen as a significant move to address the ongoing controversies surrounding his associations with Epstein and other allegations.
