President Trump Posthumously Awards Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom
President Donald Trump honored the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on what would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday.
President Donald Trump posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a ceremony at the White House Rose Garden on Tuesday, coinciding with what would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University.
In his remarks, Trump described Kirk as a "fearless warrior for liberty" and an "American patriot of the deepest conviction." He added, "He was assassinated in the prime of his life for boldly speaking the truth, for living his faith and relentlessly fighting for a better and stronger America."
The ceremony was attended by Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, who accepted the award on his behalf. Argentine President Javier Milei, who had been visiting the White House earlier, also attended the event.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom, established in 1963, is awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, or other significant endeavors. Kirk's posthumous recognition highlights his influence in conservative politics and his role in mobilizing young conservatives.
