Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to Israel, Trump stated, "I might say, 'Look: if this war is not going to get settled, I'm going to send them Tomahawks.'"
This development follows recent discussions between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which Zelenskyy requested advanced weaponry to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities. The Tomahawk missiles, with a range of approximately 2,500 kilometers, would enable Ukraine to target locations deep within Russian territory.
The Kremlin has expressed significant concern over the potential supply of such missiles to Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked that "the topic of Tomahawks is of extreme concern," highlighting the potential for heightened tensions between Washington and Moscow.
Concurrently, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Recent strikes have targeted facilities in regions including Kyiv, Donetsk, Odesa, and Chernihiv, resulting in injuries to workers and damage to essential services. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy reported that over the past week, Russia launched more than 3,100 drones, 92 missiles, and approximately 1,360 glide bombs, aiming to disrupt Ukraine's power grid ahead of the winter season.
In response to these developments, a senior Ukrainian delegation is scheduled to visit Washington to further discuss military support, including the potential provision of Tomahawk missiles, and to address additional sanctions on Russia.
