President Trump Undergoes 'Semiannual Physical' at Walter Reed

Summary

President Donald Trump is undergoing a 'semiannual physical' at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, six months after his last annual exam.

President Donald Trump is undergoing what he describes as a "semiannual physical" at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday, six months after his last annual exam.

The White House announced the visit earlier this week, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt referring to it as a "routine yearly checkup," despite the president having had his annual physical in April.

When questioned about the timing, Trump stated, "I'm meeting with the troops, and I'm also going to do a, sort of, semiannual physical, which I do." He added, "I think I'm in great shape, but I'll let you know."

In April, Trump's physician, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, reported that the president was "fully fit" to serve, noting a 20-pound weight loss since June 2020 and an active lifestyle contributing to his well-being.

In July, the White House disclosed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older adults causing blood to pool in the veins.

The president is scheduled to return to the White House after his visit to Walter Reed in Bethesda, Maryland.
