President Trump to Undergo Semiannual Physical at Walter Reed

Summary

President Donald Trump is scheduled for a 'semiannual physical' at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, approximately six months after his last examination.

President Donald Trump is set to undergo a 'semiannual physical' at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday, about six months after his previous examination.

'I'm meeting with the troops, and I'm also going to do a, sort of semiannual physical, which I do,' Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday.

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, stated that during his visit to Walter Reed, located in Bethesda, Maryland, the President will 'stop by for his routine yearly checkup.'

In April, Trump's physical examination indicated he was 'fully fit' to serve as commander in chief. The report noted a weight loss of 20 pounds since June 2020 and highlighted his 'active lifestyle' as a significant contributor to his well-being.

Over the summer, the White House disclosed that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after observing mild swelling in his lower legs. This condition, common in older adults, occurs when veins in the legs do not function properly, leading to poor blood flow back to the heart.

During his remarks on Thursday, Trump expressed confidence in his health status, stating, 'I think I'm in great shape, but I'll let you know. ... Physically, I feel very good. Mentally, I feel very good.'
