Sean 'Diddy' Combs Sentenced to Over Four Years in Prison for Prostitution-Related Charges
Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been sentenced to four years and two months in prison for transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution, with his legal team planning to appeal the decision.
Sean "Diddy" Combs, the 55-year-old Grammy-winning artist and music executive, was sentenced on Friday to four years and two months in prison for transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. The sentencing also includes a $500,000 fine, the maximum allowed.
Combs was convicted in July under the federal Mann Act, which prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for illegal sexual activities. The trial featured testimony from former girlfriend Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, who alleged that Combs coerced her into engaging in sexual acts with strangers over their decade-long relationship. Another woman, identified as "Jane," testified about being pressured into similar activities.
During the sentencing hearing, Combs' children pleaded for leniency. His daughter D'Lila expressed fear of losing her father after the death of their mother, Kim Porter, in 2018. She stated, "Please, your honor, please, give our family the chance to heal together, to rebuild, to change, to move forward, not as a headline, but as human beings."
Prosecutors had sought a sentence of more than 11 years, emphasizing the severity of Combs' actions. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik argued that sparing Combs serious prison time would excuse years of violence.
Combs' legal team plans to appeal the sentence, contending that the Mann Act was misapplied in this case. Defense attorney Jason Driscoll argued that the law was misapplied.
Combs has already served a year in jail, meaning he could be released in approximately three years. There is no chance of parole in the federal system.
