Iran Executes Six Accused of Attacks Linked to Israel
Iran has executed six individuals accused of carrying out attacks in Khuzestan province on behalf of Israel, amid a surge in executions following recent conflicts.
Iran has executed six individuals accused of conducting attacks in the southwestern Khuzestan province on behalf of Israel. The judiciary's Mizan website reported that the executions took place at dawn on Saturday. The individuals were alleged to have carried out armed operations and bombings targeting security forces in Khuzestan in recent years.
The judiciary stated that the accused were involved in the killings of four security personnel, including two police officers and two members of the Basij paramilitary force, between 2018 and 2019. They were also said to have confessed to planning and executing acts of sabotage, such as planting bombs and blowing up a gas station in Khorramshahr.
These executions follow a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June, after which Tehran vowed to target its enemies both domestically and abroad. Human rights organizations have expressed concern over the increasing number of executions in Iran, noting that the country has executed over 1,000 individuals in 2025 alone.
In a separate case, Iran executed another individual on Saturday, accusing him of killing a Sunni cleric in 2009 in Kurdistan province.
The Arab population in Khuzestan has long reported discrimination by Iran's central government. The region has experienced unrest, including attacks on oil pipelines and participation in nationwide protests in recent years.
