Second Detainee Dies Following Dallas ICE Facility Shooting
A second detainee has died after a shooting at the Dallas ICE facility, bringing the total fatalities to two.
A second detainee has died following the September 24 shooting at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas. Miguel Ángel García-Hernández, 32, was removed from life support and passed away early Monday morning, according to a statement from the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), citing his wife. An ICE spokesperson confirmed his death, stating he "died at 12:48 a.m. CT Monday."
The incident occurred when a gunman opened fire from an adjacent building, targeting the facility's sally port area where detainees were being transferred. The shooter, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. No ICE officers were injured during the attack.
Another detainee, Norlan Guzmán-Fuente, 37, from El Salvador, also died in the shooting. A third detainee, identified as Jose Andres Bordones-Molina of Venezuela, was injured; details on his condition have not been provided.
García-Hernández's wife, Stephany Gauffeny, described him as "a good man, a loving father, and the provider for our family." She added, "His death is a senseless tragedy that has left our family shattered."
The FBI is investigating the shooting as a targeted attack. Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the incident.
