U.S. Considers Supplying Ukraine with Long-Range Tomahawk Missiles

The United States is evaluating Ukraine's request for long-range Tomahawk missiles, according to Vice President JD Vance. These missiles, with a range of approximately 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles), would enable Ukraine to target deep into Russian territory, including Moscow.

President Donald Trump will make the final decision on the potential transfer. This consideration marks a shift in the U.S. administration's stance, reflecting growing frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin's reluctance to engage in peace negotiations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized that acquiring such weaponry could pressure Russia into peace talks. He suggested that merely possessing these missiles might suffice to influence Moscow's calculations.

The Kremlin has downplayed the potential impact of supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that such weapons would not alter the situation on the front lines.

Tomahawk missiles are designed for deep-strike missions and can be launched from land or sea platforms. They are capable of hitting targets up to 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles) away with high precision, even in heavily defended airspace.

The U.S. administration's deliberation on this matter comes amid escalating tensions and ongoing discussions about enhancing Ukraine's defense capabilities.
