Apple unveils iOS 27.3 beta with redesigned Health app and expanded Siri AI

Summary

Apple released the first iOS 27.3 beta, adding a revamped Health app, new iPhone Duo features, broader Siri AI capabilities and other enhancements, with a public rollout expected in early December.

Apple has rolled out the first beta of iOS 27.3, introducing a redesigned Health app, updated iPhone Duo functionality and a range of new Siri AI features. The company indicated that the update will likely reach all iPhone users in the first half of December, following its typical December release schedule for minor version updates.

The Health app now appears in three tabs—Insights, Longevity and Browse—and includes a Health age metric that compares user data with chronological age. Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 owners can view a daily Readiness score directly in the app.

Apple Fitness+ gains a Gym Strength program that creates four-week workout plans tailored to individual strength goals, adjusting subsequent weeks based on logged performance.

iPhone Duo receives Reachability support, allowing users to shift the outer-display interface for easier one-handed use, and the keyboard has been refined with narrower keys and smaller font. The StandBy feature, previously limited to Duo, is now available on all iPhone models with new clock faces and shared-album integration.

Siri AI is expanded across dozens of Apple apps, enabling commands such as locating a previously visited coffee shop or archiving old files. Apple also introduced an early Developer Preview that lets third-party apps integrate custom actions into Siri AI via App Intents, with broader availability expected in the coming months. New language support includes French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.

Apple Intelligence features debut in China, offering real-time translation, writing tools, visual intelligence, photo-related enhancements and improved Siri interactions.

Safari receives a vertical-tabs layout for iPhone Duo’s inner display and an Adaptive Dark Mode that can automatically apply dark styling to sites lacking native support.

Apple Music adds a “Selfie Sing” option that records video while users sing karaoke, and the lyrics view has been refined for landscape orientation.

Additional tweaks include VPN switching from Control Center, a Global Privacy Control toggle in Settings, and new shape and image-generation tools in Freeform.

"We started rolling out these new capabilities across many Apple apps, including Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts, and Weather, so users can do things like find a coffee shop they visited last week or archive files that haven’t been opened in over a year," Apple explained.

"Today’s preview allows any app to bring its content and actions directly into Siri AI by using App Intents, making it easier for all apps to tap into Siri AI’s newest capabilities," the company added.

The beta is available for developers and public testers, with the final version slated for a December release.
